Southern GP Training (SGPT) is a regional training provider for the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program.
The Western Region extends from Geelong to the South East of South Australia and Eastern Region extends through Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula.
SGPT offers a flexible and interactive approach to training. We are committed to working with registrars to ensure that they receive a training program that works. SGPT offers quality training because the program is GP owned, and registrar interest is the driving force. Registrars appreciate learning from our hands-on approach, strong mentoring support and regular workshops.
The teaching practices are located in provincial cities such as Geelong, Warrnambool, Mt Gambier, Mt Eliza, Traralgon and Warragul, in cities such as Hamilton, Sale, Colac and Millicent and in smaller towns like Camperdown, Timboon, Orbost and Leongatha where procedural medicine plays a bigger role. The practices offer unique opportunities to gain a broad range of skills and our Workshops are interactive, informative and provide a forum to address a wide range of issues.
SGPT offers a high level of professional and personal support combined with a wonderful lifestyle. The area is home to numerous iconic destinations, including the world famous 12 Apostles, the Shipwreck Coast, the natural beauty of the Grampians, Phillip Island and its famous penguin parade, Wilson’s Promontory (the southernmost point of mainland Australia) and the Gippsland Lakes. Melbourne is easily accessible from most parts of the region.
